Siddara Betta Trek
After the Skandagiri trek, the team was all excited to get to another trek. Since we had Thadiyandamol planned towards the last week of the same month, we thought we'll get to a one day trek which is within ~100 Kms radius from Bangalore. After researching & planning the logistics, we were all geared up to get to Siddara Betta. We were 6 of us, Alok, Mohan, Amitabh, Subish, Harish & Myself for this trial.
Siddara Betta is a rocky hill part of MadhuGiri Taluk in Tumkur District. Though the major crowd which visits is the one of pilgrims, this place also interests trekkers and other nature lovers. Cave exploration is a enjoyable experience. There is a temple in the cliff as well.

Since we had a private vehicle with us today, it was quite easy for us to just pick each one of us from our homes. After the hassle of picking guys from their homes, we were all together finally at 5.00 am. We thought of reaching the spot before the weather turns hot and we were almost close by to Siddarabetta around 6.30. We stopped by for tea and chit-chat...We spent some time on photographs and our nature calls. By the time we got to the starting point, it was around 7.30 am. There we go, we didn't know that Siddara Betta has nothing apart from Steps carved out of stones. So, we thought of inventing a new route. We took a left after 10 mins of trek on the steps and got into the jungle. Got into some swamps and prepared our own hiking staff from the dry trees. We proceeded towards the top, the trek was going really strenuous and tough after some time and there we see a huge stone which is impossible to climb and continue our trek. With no options left, we came back to the steps. This is were over confident plays an important role, climbing steps is not so easy as we thought. All of us didn't feel our knees for sometime.
Munching the biscuits and lays which we got, we proceeded further and reached 1/2 of the path. Took some breaks and watching some birds :) we kept moving and also motivating Mohan to make it to the top. This continued for an hour or so and there we go, we reached the summit.
Important note for all trekkers and public: Siddara Betta is a beautiful spot with lots of caves and temples, public & trekkers have made the place so dirty and untidy. The place is filled with plastic papers and it stinks. The temple pretty much looks like any other temple with rich culture and dedication. Proceeded towards the caves, the caves are just amazing to explore. Its said that Saints used & still meditate in the caves for years together. The caves are pretty much like how everybody imagines, it dark and surprising. While we rest in one of the caves, Subish & Amitabh went further deep to explore some more caves.
After spending some time in the caves, we are all set to trek down. It took much lesser time as usual to descend. With short breaks, we proceeded in a good pace and back to our vehicle around 1pm. We drove back to Bangalore and called our day after a good meal at Nandhini.
